Be an Advocate! As a parent, wouldn’t you want the teachers entrusted with your kids to know how to protect their hearing? As a patron of restaurants, music venues, and churches, wouldn’t you want everyone to be on the same page about SAFE enjoyment of music? We’ll equip you with the tools to make an impact. Print and personalize letters and flyers to inspire others to get EarAware certified! If it’s too loud, follow our written protocol and insist on EarAware Pro certified venues only.

Have Fun Learning We’ve created an educational program that makes it fun to earn your EarAware Core certification. Play the Cochlea Game – it’s like a game show! Get answers right, earn points and badges, and level up your rank in the “Ear Force.” (Or study the traditional way through videos and quizzes.)

o Rate venues for sound level and provide noise measurements (screenshots from decibel meter apps).
o Points for reviews, more for verified readings.
o Leaderboards and badges like "Quiet Crusader."
2. Petition and Policy Pushes
o Sign and share petitions for sound safety (e.g., earplug distribution).
o Earn points for shares or verified signatures.

· Get a baseline audiogram (ideally in a sound booth, or via a phone app)
· Use sound meter apps like SoundPrint or Decibel X
· Learn the science:
o Under 70 dBA = safe for unlimited exposure
o 85 dBA+ = hearing protection strongly recommended
o 100 dBA = max 15 minutes, per NIOSH & WHO
o 120 dBA+ = instant permanent damage
· Turn the volume down, even on earbuds
· Use earplugs correctly (check NRR rating)
· Recognize Sudden Hearing Loss as a medical emergency!
